Welcome!

Hello, Fantagufo, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:52, 17 April 2024 (EDT)

Hello JLaTondre, and thank you for the welcoming message! I had already found some of the help pages you recommend, and actually I keep them always open in a dedicated browser window while operating on the db; now I will check also the others.
I possess a good collection of SF books in Italian language, and I intend to submit to ISFDB as many as I will be able - without rushing. Most of these books are translations of English books for which I expect to find the master record already in the DB, yet bibliographical challenges were already encountered, since ISFDB requires extreme precision (and I like it for that, too).
I see that Moderators are quite busy with a significant submission queue, so I promise not to post questions to you or to the board without thorough study of the help pages (and all the same this of course already happened!). Thank you again --Fantagufo (talk) 05:51, 18 April 2024 (EDT)

Prefazione (Manoscritto trovato a Saragozza)

Hi Luca -

I'm holding your submission to make this title a variant of this title. I can't detect any differences in either the title, author name or language that would necessitate a variant relationship. I think you may want to merge the two titles instead of making a variant. Please let me know if I'm missing something here, or if you need help on merging. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 09:53, 17 May 2024 (EDT)

Hi Ron! You are right, they are the same text and should be merged. Another possibility is to change the title of the one I added: in the parenthetical disambiguation I just put the title of the novel. Should I instead specify also the subtitle "testo stabilito e..."? If I remember correctly, there is no strict rule for disambiguations. What do you recommend? thanks! /Luca/ --Fantagufo (talk) 10:13, 17 May 2024 (EDT)
