Welcome!

Hello, CityPlanner36, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 04:36, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Strange Christmas

Your submission to add this record to the database was accepted, but several changes had to be made in order for it to comply with ISFDB standards. You'll find help pages linked in the Welcome section above that will provide further explanation for the changes I've made.

  • The publication date was changed from 2012-00-00 to 2012-12-01 based on Lulu.com data.
  • The binding was changed from "Paperback" to "tp" which is the ISFDB designation for a trade paperback (more than 7.5 inches or 18 cm tall).
  • Currency symbol "$" was added to the price field (assuming the price is in US dollars)

A few questions: according to the Lulu.com listing the price is $17.95, not the $18.95 you give in your submission. Also, I could not confirm the ISBN. That number is for a 2008 anthology published by the same press Santa's Givings and Misgivings. Is the ISBN stated in your copy of the book? Also Lulu gives the page count as 152. Can you confirm that the actual page count is 145?

You can respond directly to this message by clicking on the "[edit]" link to the right of this message. Enter your response in the box that opens, end the message with four tildes (~~~~) which will sign and date it. Then click the "Save Page" button.

We would also appreciate it if you could add the other contents and then do a verification of the record. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 04:53, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Strange Lucky Valentines

Similar repairs made to this record as the one above, with this additional change:

  • Changed the title of the story from "Luck Of The Draw" to "Luck of the Draw", using the American English capitalization standards.

And again, the ISBN can not be confirmed. It comes up as another Whortleberry Press publication: Strange Mysteries 2" published in 2009.

I also forgot to mention above: leave the date field of the content field blank if this publication is the first appearance of the story. The system automatically dates it the same as the publication. Also, you must use the date format of YYYY-MM-DD throughout the ISFDB, filling in unknown months/days with zeros. Beyond Centauri

This record is now in the database, but more changes had to be made in it:

  • You must give the date of the magazine in the title field to disambiguate it from other issues of the same title. So "Beyond Centauri" was changed to "Beyond Centauri, October 2012".
  • The date field was changed to "2012-10-00"
  • The publisher's name was changed from "Sams Dot Publishing" to "Sam's Dot Publishing"
  • The format/binding field was changed from "Paper Print Magazine" to "tp"
  • The price field was changed from "7.00" to "$7.00"

Please add the other contents when you get a chance, and then do a primary verification of the record. Also take some time to look over this page, the single most important page to help you in adding publications to the database. Thanks. Mhhutchins 05:11, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Star*Line

The record for this issue of the magazine is now in the database, and the following changes were made:

  • The title field was changed from "Star*Line" to "Star*Line, October-December 2012"
  • The editor field was changed from "F.J. Bergmann" to "F. J. Bergmann" (you must leave a space after the period in initials.)
  • The date field was changed from "2012-00-00" to "2012-10-00" (the first month is used when a publication is multi-month dated.)
  • "Paper Print Magazine" was removed from the format/binding field. I'm not familiar with this publication so please update the record to use one of the formats as given the list for print magazines here.
  • Price field was changed from "5.00" to "$5.00"

Please add the remaining contents when you get a chance and then do a primary verification of the record. Thanks. Mhhutchins 05:18, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

Dear Valentine

Another record and in addition to the similar corrections that had to be made in the previous records, I changed:

  • The editor field from "Jean Goldstrom" to "Jean M. Goldstrom" (the name given on the title page according to the OCLC record)
  • The title of the story from "Jenna In The Morning, Evening and Summertime" to "Jenna in the Morning, Evening and Summertime"

Please add the other contents and do a primary verification of the record. Mhhutchins 05:25, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
